EN8M is a medium carbon free-cutting steel grade, commonly used where good machinability, strength, and wear resistance are required in engineering components. EN8M is the free-machining version of EN8 steel. It contains higher sulfur content, which improves chip breaking and machining performance on lathes, CNC machines, and automatic screw machines. It is commonly supplied as bright bars, round bars, flats, and hex bars.
